Scout Youth Bus

The Chairman and two of the Trustees were delighted to attend the launch of the Scout Youth Bus on Sunday 22 August. The Veolia Mulwaree Trust helped to fund the Toyota Coaster which will enable members of the Goulburn Scout Group to be transported to camps and activities. Their frist trip was straight after the launch to the Illawarra Fly! Scout Leader, Linda, said “we certainly couldn’t have done this without you, thankyou, thankyou”.

Billyrambija Landcare re-establishing koalas colonies

In 2006 the Veolia Mulwaree Trust provided a grant of $7500 to the Billyrambija Landcare Group for its Translocation of Koalas to Tarlo River National Park project. The group sought to encourage the restoration of koalas to an area where they were once plentiful. The koalas wear radio-tracking devices to enable them to be monitored by the group, as well as academics and students from the University of Western Sydney. Landcare Group member Jorgen Nielsen recently reported that three koalas had been successfully relocated to the park, with one joey born. “The planting of koala food trees by members of the group not only will provide suitable habitat for dispersing koalas in the future but will generally encourage birdlife and other native animals in the area,” Mr Nielsen said. The Hawkesbury Nepean Catchment Management Authority has recently produced a video entitled  ’Connecting Bushland Corridors Across the Landscape’ which features Billyrambija’s koala project.
