Grant helps sick stay comfortable
Palliative care patients can now access equipment to help make their care at home more comfortable, following an $10,000 grant awarded to the Wingecarribee Community Health Nursing team. The grant, issued by the Veolia Mulwaree Trust, helped the team purchase two recliner chairs and one alternating pressure mattress, which will be loaned to clients of the service.
Kate Partington, Acting Nurse Manager, SSWAHS Community Health
Nursing said almost 40 per cent of all palliative care patients cared for at home were suffering from disorders other than cancer.
Veolia Mulwaree Trust Chairman Paul Stephenson said the Trust was
pleased to be able to support the Wingecarribee Community Health Nursing team with the grant funding to purchase the equipment. βThe Trust hopes this equipment will provide greater comfort to local residents requiring care through the invaluable services provided by the Wingecarribee Community Health Nursing Team,β Mr Stephenson said.
