The Veolia Mulwaree Trust is providing direct support for local students from throughout the region announcing nine new tertiary education scholarships valued at up to $3000 each for 2011.

The Trust has established scholarship programs with the University of Canberra, Charles Sturt University, University of Wollongong and Illawarra TAFE.

The 2011 scholarships will be available to students from any one of the seven Local Government Areas (LGA) serviced by the Veolia Mulwaree Trust, including the Goulburn Mulwaree Council, Palerang Council, Shoalhaven City Council, Oberon Council, Wingecarribee Shire Council, Upper Lachlan Shire Council, and Wollondilly Shire Council areas.

Two $3000 scholarships will be available to students studying at both the University of Canberra and University of Wollongong.

Three scholarships valued at $1500 each will be provided through TAFE NSW – Illawarra Institute for students enrolled in a Certificate III course or above.

Two $3000 scholarships at Charles Sturt University will be available to Bachelor of Nursing students.

““The scholarships are aimed at providing financial support for students to encourage professional relationships between students and employers from the region to encourage graduates to bring their knowledge and experience back to the local area,” Veolia Mulwaree Trust Chairman Mr Paul Stephenson said.

Over the past four years the Veolia Mulwaree Trust has successfully supported rural doctors scholarships with the Australian National University, an engineering scholarship also with the ANU and six arts scholarships through the Jennifer Lamb Veolia Creative Arts Scholarship.

Mr Stephenson encouraged all school leavers and prospective students to apply for the scholarships. All administration and scholarship selection will be undertaken directly by the educational institutions.

Scholarship applications are being managed directly by the relevant education provider. Prospective applicants should contact their University/TAFE campus for an application form.
