New Uses for Gunning Showground Booth

“We feel as though we have an area that is safe and ours,” said Gunning PA and I Society President Kelly Dowling, following the successful completion of the Show Society’s project to refurbish the Publican’s Booth at the Gunning Showground. Working together with Upper Lachlan Shire Council, the Show Society has installed a partitian dividing the storage area from the servery with new shutters, troughs and serving benches. The back storage area has been cemented over and is a hugh improvement from the dirt floor that used to waft dust everywhere. A new door has been cut, allowing entry to the servery without the need to go through the storage area. Tables and chairs were purchased for use outside, and electrical work and painting has has been completed.

The upgrade of this important and iconic building would not have been possible without funding from the Veolia Mulwaree Trust. The Show Society reports that there is now much pride in the building and it will be able to be used for many Gunning community events in the future.
