February 2011 Grant and Donation Recipients

The Veolia Mulwaree Trust has assisted 34 local not-for-profit community organisations in its February 2011 funding round by providing more than $150,000 in grants and donations. This brings the total distributed by the Trust to more than $4 million over the past six years. The funding will go toward a wide range of charities, sporting clubs, schools, service clubs and other community groups. Projects to be funded include:

Crookwell’s AP and H Society has undertaken a major project at the Crookwell Showground to construct a new amenities block to include new women’s toilets, change rooms and Crookwell’s only public 24-hour disabled toilets The Society has secured a $35,000 State Government grant and undertaken significant fundraising. The Veolia Mulwaree Trust will provide $45,000 toward the project.

A grant of $16,695 will see the construction of a new storage shed in Bowral for the Rotary Club of Bowral-Mittagong and the Bowral Lions Club. The new shed will enable the clubs to better store equipment, such as barbecue trailers and tools, with which members serve the community through their many activities.

The long-awaited Tarago Recreation Area Walking Track will be completed with a $25,346 grant to be provided to the Tarago Sporting Association for the project.

The Gundillion Recreation Reserve Trust will construct a new kitchen and extension at the Gundillion Hall (pictured),  a community hall regularly used for a wide range of events. A grant of $13560 will be provided by the Trust.

The Milton Ulladulla District Tennis Association will construct a new concrete pathway to improve access to three courts and drainage at the complex, with a grant of $5746.

Students at the Crescent School in Goulburn will be provided with a new interactive whiteboard with a grant of $6263, as part of the school’s Emerging Technologies in Special Education program.

The Murramarang Community Garden group was successful in securing a grant of $4400 toward new infrastructure at their garden located at the ANU Coastal Campus in Kioloa.

The Meals on Wheels Service in Wollondilly, operated by Wollondilly Support and Community Care, will benefit from a new commercial fridge and freezer through a $4300 grant from the Trust. The service provides 60 meals each day to frail, aged and disadvantaged clients.

$3000 will be provided to the Goulburn Multicultural Centre toward the staging of the Goulburn Carnivale in 2012.

Goulburn’s Salvation Army will receive a grant of $5000 toward the purchase of a new truck to transport donations at the local Salvation Army Family Store.

The Veolia Mulwaree Trust’s donation program, established in 2010, is assisting many community organisations with a wide range of smaller projects. 24 donations totalling $23,679 were distributed in February amongst the following organisations:

  • Milton Pony Club $1000 to assist with the purchase of equipment for safety and the further training of younger riders.
  • Shoalhaven City Archers $1000 to purchase equipment including target butts, arrows and a shade shelter.
  • The Two Fires Festival of Arts and Activism in Braidwood received $1000 to assist with expenses for the 3-day festival.
  • Wollondilly Community Men’s Shed Inc – WOLCOMS received $780 to share information, ideas and resources between the network of men’s sheds in the Wollondilly Shire.
  • Braidwood Lions Club $1000 to upgrade equipment including the club’s BBQ.
  • WHAM Inc. (Wingecarribee Health Association for Men Inc) $1000 to support its Mentoring to Men project based at the Moss Vale Community Garden.
  • Shoalhaven Mini Trots $1000 to supply safety equipment including on-track communications and a sunshade.
  • Canyonleigh Rural Fire Brigade $1000 to purchase a new fridge/freezer and high pressure water cleaner.
  • Can Assist Goulburn & District $1000 to assist cancer patients and their families with a range of financial support.
  • Bundanon Trust $1000 to support the Bundanon Trust’s Outreach Programs for people from disadvantaged backgrounds.
  • Shoalhaven Reptile Club $1000 to assist the club to purchase a laptop for presentations and administration.
  • His House Care Inc $1000 for the purchase of a conveyor toaster required for the Picton High School Breakfast Program.
  • Currarong Progress Association $1000 to support the services it provides to the local community, including management of a community building.
  • MBK United Soccer Club (Goulburn) $1000 to purchase sporting equipment and portable goals.
  • Mulwaree Arts Inc $1000 to assist with hosting the annual Marulan Kite Festival.
  • Tarago Parents & Citizens Association $1000 to assist in meeting transport costs of school excursions.
  • Goulburn Eisteddfod Society $1000 to assist in running the annual Goulburn Eisteddfod.
  • Appin Historical Society $1000 to produce walking tour brochure of local historical sites.
  • Sailability NSW – Callala Branch $1000 to provide maintenance on boats & beach wheelchair.
  • Queanbeyan Children’s Special Needs Group $1000 to purchase specialised teaching aids and equipment for outreach program conducted in Bungendore.
  • Taralga & District Showground & Recreation $1000 to purchase materials to enclose the poultry pavilion.
  • CareSouth Nowra $1000 to support a mentoring program for children aged 3-12 from disadvantaged families.
  • Wollondilly Mobile Preschool Association $1000 to purchase a computer and software to support programs.
  • Braidwood Show Society $899 to purchase stackable outdoor chairs for use at the show.
