Chairman of the Veolia Mulwaree Trust, Paul Stephenson, and Minister for Primary Industries, and Minister for Small Business, the Hon. Katrina Hodgkinson, officially opened the 2012 Crookwell AP&H Society’s Annual Show. The opening was held on Saturday February 11 and was also the official opening of the new Disabled and Women’s Toilet and Amenities Block at the showground.

The Veolia Mulwaree Trust provided a grant of $45,000 toward the $98,000 amenities block project, and with a $35,000 grant from the Community Building Partnership Program and the remainder from their own funds, the Crookwell AP&H Society were able to complete the project.

The Crookwell AP&H Society has operated for 132 years including 85 years located at the Crookwell Showground. The  Society has a particular focus on the management and conduct of public events and the provision of well maintained recreational and sporting facilities for the enjoyment of the community. The society is excited about the new disabled and women’s toilet and amenities block as it addresses shortcomings in the old facilities in the region which either excluded or inconvenienced important sectors of the community.

AP & H Society Treasurer, Paul Culhane, said “women with babies and young children now have a safe, clean and well functioning facility. Visiting groups with disabled members likewise are now equally catered for at our grounds.”

“We are very appreciative of the support for our project by the Veolia Mulwaree Trust and appreciate the directors attending the facility’s opening and show opening. It is satisfying to see women, children and the disabled reaping the benefits of a project made possible by the support of the Veolia Mulwaree Trust,” he said.

“The project’s expectations have been fully achieved and we have received a great deal of positive feedback from the community.”

Veolia Mulwaree Trust Chairman Paul Stephenson said the Trust was pleased to able to work together with the State Government and a community organisation as dedicated and long-standing as the Crookwell AP & H Society to assist in improving facilities for the Crookwell community.
