39 New Grants and Donations Announced

Thirty nine organisations have been successful in their recent applications to the Veolia Mulwaree Trust Community Grant and Donation Program. A total of $273,546 in grants and funding was distributed by the Trust at its July meeting.

A presentation to the grant recipients was held in Goulburn this week. The four trustees, including Trustee Danny Conlon, representing funding provider Veolia Environmental Services, were on hand to present the succcessful grant recipients with the cheques. Mr Conlon is pictured left with Tarago Show Society member Marianne Ronayne at the presentation. In total fourteen groups received grants in the latest funding round, including:

 Challenge Southern Highlands Inc received a grant of $39,439 toward a new training centre at the Welby facility which will be used to deliver training and to provide meaningful employment opportunities for people with disabilities.

The Braidwood Multi Purpose Advisory Committee is currently constructing a new Dementia Friendly Unit at the Braidwood Multi Purpose Service. The Trust will provide a grant of $43,000 to assist in furnishing the facility to create ‘home like’ surroundings for the residents.

South Coast Branch NSW of Surf Lifesaving Australia will receive $30,000 in 2012 from the Trust in support of the volunteer lifesavers on the beaches in Shoalhaven and also to continue the community education program in schools in the Southern Highlands, Palerang and the Shoalhaven.

A grant of $27,342 was presented to the Douglas Park Sportsground and Community Committee and Wollondilly Shire Council for the Douglas Park Reserve Skate Park Project which will construct a new skate park to provide a recreation facility for young people.

$2,327 will be provided to the Wingello Mechanics Institute Hall Management Committee for stage two of a kitchen upgrade to purchase a new stove for the Wingello Hall kitchen which will benefit many local community groups.

The Trust will jointly fund a project with the Phoenix Committee to purchase rehabilitation equipment for use by patients rehabilitating from illnesses, accidents or surgeries at the Bourke Street Health Service in Goulburn. The Trust will provide $17,537 toward the project.

North Nowra Public School was successful in its application entitled Positive Behaviour for Success Playground Project. The Trust will contribute a grant of $25,346 to provide a new playground at the school which will cater specifically for the children with special needs as well as mainstream students.

Marulan Public School students will benefit from three new permanent electronic whiteboards in their classrooms. The We Can Learn Together project will be assisted by a $10,000 contribution from the Veolia Mulwaree Trust.

The Tarago and District Show Society will benefit from new fencing at the Showground as well as and a new ride on mower for maintenance of community areas in Tarago following a grant of $14,000 from the Trust.

The Burrawang School of Arts Inc successfully applied for a grant of $10,000 toward its Heating of Main Hall at the Burrawang Schools of Arts Project which will see ducted central gas heating installed to the main hall which will increase the amount it can be used by the community during the cold winter months.

A new internal fence to divide the two courts at the Culburra Beach Tennis Courts will be installed to complete an upgrade of all the facility’s fencing through a Veolia Mulwaree Trust grant $2,273.

The Way Ahead Family Drop-In Centre in Picton will benefit from a new dishwasher and stove funded by a Trust grant of $2,800. The Centre is operated by the His House Care Charity, which supports families and individuals in the Wollondilly Shire.

Additional storage facilities for essential equipment will be installed at Wingello Rural Fire Brigade Station. The Brigade successfully applied for a grant of $11,284 for the project.

A grant of $13,618 from the Veolia Mulwaree Trust will provide a kitchen, office and store room fitout for the newly created Crossroads Rural Fire Brigade at Vincentia.

A presentation to the grant recipients was held in Goulburn this week. The Veolia Mulwaree Trust looks forward to working with these community organisations over the coming months toward the successful completion of their projects.

Milton Ulladulla Junior Rugby League Inc – $1000 donation to build a BBQ structure.

Goulburn and District Historical Society Inc – $1000 donation to purchase materials for the preservation of the photographic collection.

Sussex Inlet Public School – $1000 donation to help establish before and after school facility.

Mission Australia Goulburn’s Grandparents Support Group – $1000 donation to provide resources for a Resource Library.

Southern Highlands Sailing Club Inc – $1000 donation to purchase marker buoys, fix rescue boat and replace life jackets.

Goulburn Tai Chi Club Inc – $1000 donation to support club’s activities.

Goulburn Quota Club Inc – $1000 donation to purchase books for Quota ‘Cops and Kids’ reading program.

Milton Ulladulla Little Athletics Inc – $1000 donation to purchase equipment.

Shoalhaven Rowing Club Inc – $1000 donation to purchase equipment including outboard motors.

Riding for the Disabled (NSW) Goulburn Branch – $1000 donation to conduct regular riding days for children.

Oberon Men’s Shed Inc – $700 donation to purchase a dust extractor and lathe chucks.

Crookwell Women’s Bowling Club – $1000 donation to purchase bowls mats.

Tarago Public School – $1000 donation to provide tennis and gymnastic lessons for school sport.

Braidwood Lions Club Inc – $1000 donation to purchase a banner to promote fundraising activities in the community.

Sailability NSW Inc Callala Branch – $1000 donation to continue to expand disability sport and therapeutic sailing.

Goulburn and District Branch of Can Assist – $1000 donation to support local cancer patients and their families.

Burraga and District Community Association Inc – $1000 donation to purchase trestle tables for the hall.

Collector Catholic Church St Bartholomew’s – $1000 donation to move a meter box and upgrade wiring.

Crookwell Neighbourhood Centre Inc – $1000 donation to purchase resources for Before and After School and Vacation Care.

Berry Community Church – $1000 donation to purchase toys and musical instruments.

Goulburn Racing Pigeon Club Inc – $880 donation to fund club basketing timing system.

Mulwaree Arts Inc – $1000 donation to assist with the Marulan Kite Festival.

Moss Vale Public School – $1000 donation to purchase reading resources for a literacy initiative.

Goulburn Rostrum Club – $1000 donation to support the Voice of Youth and Primary Schools Speaking Competitions.
