Jervis Bay Christian Community School have used a donation of $1000 from the Veolia Mulwaree Trust toward a new program, called “Fast ForWord” which targets the development of cognitive skills – memory, attention, processing and sequencing.

Suzanne Bellette, Support Teacher Learning Difficulties, said the program was designed to benefit students ranging in age from 8-12 years. This group of students are in the midst of developing literacy skills that will impact them for the rest of their lives.

Ms Bellette said the program had received positive feedback from parents, teachers and students.

“They have reported that students have become addicted to reading and are reading more fluently, are choosing bigger books and students are showing greater interest in reading and writing,” Ms Bellette reported.
