Moss Vale Basketball Keeping Score

Dec 13, 2012 by

Moss Vale and district basketball players are celebrating the installation of their new scoreboard following a successful grant application to the Veolia Mulwaree Trust.

The Trust's $6850 grant assisted the Association to purchase the new score board and 24 second clock. This upgrade of equipment allows the Association to fully comply with standards required by Basketball NSW and Basketball Australia to host State and National tournaments.

“The new scoreboard is a well deserved addition to the facility as the previous scoreboard had been in use for the last 25 years. The Association, which is a predominately volunteer organization, is very grateful for the support of the Veolia Mulwaree Trust, not only for basketball but for the Southern Highlands community in general,” Moss Vale Basketball Association Secretary Margaret Beaumont said.

Moss Vale Basketball is currently experiencing major growth, with overall numbers increasing by over 100% over the last 18 months. The senior competition has expanded from two to five grades in the current competition with teams in A Grade, A Reserve, B Grade, C Grade Div 1 and Div 2 running over three nights a week, while the Junior numbers have now increased to require having to play on two nights a week.

The Veolia Mulwaree Trust is pleased to have been able to support this growing sporting group in the Southern Highlands.
