Picton's His House Care Charity recently received a Veolia Mulwaree Trust grant of $2,800 towards their project to improve the efficiency and safety of The Way Ahead Drop In Centre. The project included purchasing a new stove and dishwasher for the Centre. Public Officer and Charity Adminisrtator, Erich Drescher, said “we have had extra community members using the drop-in centre already since these new items were installed. The rate of usage is quickly growing and will double again in February 2013 when our charity will also offer grief and financial councelling to Shire members.”

Mr Drescher said “His House Care exists to facilitate, be involved and lead, as we are able, in giving direct aid for the relief of poverty, sickness, destitution and misfortune in the Wollondilly Shire. It aims to reduce the stresses involved with grief, poverty with as many individuals as it can.”

The drop-in centre commenced early in 2011 and since then has grown in the number of families and individuals who use the facility. His House Care has also recently commenced some larger groups, including the local Wollondilly Support and Community Care group, which look after the elderly and operates the meals on wheels program.
