NSW Police – Goulburn Local Area Command is utilising a new Crime Prevention and Community Engagement Display Trailer provided through a Veolia Mulwaree Trust grant of $7,897. The trailer has been equipped with storage areas for brochures and pamphlets, display panels, a toolbox, a digital TV with built-in DVD player, chairs and table, and a promotional banner. An awning provides protection for the police and volunteers in policing who staff the trailer during static displays.

Local Area Manager Narelle Kay said the new trailer has invigorated the police interest and involvement in community engagement and crime prevention within the Goulburn Local Area Command. She said police are proud to be seen utilising “our extremely professional and contemporary Crime Prevention and Community Engagement Trailer and its associated equipment and resources.”

The trailer has been well received by the community at numerous locations in the Local Government Areas of Goulburn Mulwaree, Palerang,Upper Lachlan and Wingecarribee. It has been most beneficial to the Community Policing staff in their delivery of information to a wide range of people. Most recently it was used during the ‘150 Years of Policing’ celebrations held adjacent to Belmore Park and attracted many enthusiastic parties from pre-schoolers to octogenarians.

The trailer is being primarily used by the Crime Prevention Officer at community events such as Field Days, Rural Fairs, Agricultural Shows and Expos. The trailer is staffed by police and volunteers in policing and is utilised as a static display to encourage members of the public to speak to police about issues in their local community.
