St Luke's Berry cheque presentationSt Luke’s Anglican Church in Berry have been working on a hall renovation and applied to the Veolia Mulwaree Trust for funding for a component of the project which included the replacement of audio facilities in the church and hall.  The total cost of the project including associated installation and testing was $13,547 of which the Veolia Mulwaree Trust contributed $5,850. Representatives from the Church are pictured left receiving their grant cheque from Trustee John Reynolds.

The Churchwarden, Bill Shields, said “The quality of sound and video transmission within the church & hall, as well as between the church & hall, has been greatly enhanced, which has supported not only regular services within the church itself but also will enable the large numbers from within the community that often attend special events requiring the use of both facilities (including funerals) to better participate on those occasions.”

The Church Committee were seeking funding to install a public address system, in particular new speakers, digital processor and video camera. This has made efficient use of resources, greater functionality of the current church and hall as well as demonstrating to the community the church’s commitment to enhancing the experiences of all who use the church and hall, explained Mr Shields.

St Luke’s Anglican Church ministers to many groups within the community such as the elderly, those with disabilities and of non English speaking background, single parents, young mothers, the housebound and socially isolated through a range of meetings, classes and activities. Activities are open to all. St Luke’s Church Hall is used continuously by over 1,000 regular users monthly and is a valuable community resource. Mr Shields said the regular users and the wider community have benefitted from the project. This is already apparent from the use of the new equipment to support regular services at St Luke’s and will be further enhanced once the renovation of the Hall is completed about mid year (providing improved meeting and other facilities) he said.
