St Vincent de Paul 35D242013St Vincent De Paul Society has utilised a $1000 Veolia Mulwaree Trust donation to purchase and install play equipment for their Pathways properties.

‘Pathways’ offers supported, temporary accommodation to women and children experiencing domestic violence and/or housing crisis.

The donation has allowed the organisation to provide each of the three houses with swing sets, much to the delight of the children.

Research has shown that the benefits of outdoor play for children include; reducing anxiety, improving mood, enhancing coping mechanisms and providing a healthy outlet for emotions such as frustration and trauma.

“One woman with three young children said “the swing sets are great, the children love them and are always out there”.  Senior Case Worker and Site Manager Ms Sandra Connelly reported.

The women also benefit from the play equipment through the reduced stress of having happy children.

“One five year old boy excitedly asked his mother, “wow, who did this for us?” Ms Connelly said. “It is a delight to see the children playing happily”.

The Veolia Mulwaree Trust is pleased to be of assistance to the Pathways program.
