kids opening celebration 2Penrose Tennis Club have utilised a Veolia Mulwaree Trust grant of $7,235 to resurface their tennis courts.

The existing courts had not been upgraded for 20 years and no longer met the standards for district competitions due to cracks and moisture retention. The resurfacing project has resulted in the small community club welcoming new members along with enjoyable competition days.

Club Vice President, Mrs Judith Elber said “the courts are now fully functional, safe and appealing to our players and new club members. All our objectives have been achieved.”

Students from Penrose Primary School enjoy tennis coaching for sport each week and are thrilled with the look and feel of the new courts.

The only other sporting facility in Penrose is an oval which is not level and is unsuitable for sporting activities.  The Penrose Tennis Club is happy to now provide the small community with a top grade facility which has increased incentive for people to participate in the healthy and enjoyable sport of tennis.

“All club members and the community are grateful to the Veolia Mulwaree Trust for the grant money, the assistance to achieve this project has given the courts and the club a new lease of life. The new courts are such a pleasure to play on,” Mrs Elber said.

The Veolia Mulwaree Trust is proud to assist the Penrose Tennis Club with this valuable project and looks forward to the courts being of great use to members and the community for many years to come.
