First Round of Grants and Donations for 2015 Announced by Veolia Mulwaree Trust

Nerriga Progress & Sporting Association were able to utilise a grant from Veolia Mulwaree Trust to install vinyl plank flooring in the Supper Room at the Nerriga Hall

Representatives from the Nerriga Progress and Sporting Association were pleased to receive their grant from Trustee Justin Houghton at the Veolia Mulwaree Trust’s Cheque Presentation Event.

The Veolia Mulwaree Trust congratulates the following 30 organisations for their successful grant and donation applications in the latest round of  Trust funding.

Goulburn West Public School received a grant of $21,134 to assist them to transform an existing ancillary library room into a light filled media and traditional arts education space.

The Mulloon Institute received a grant of $31,344 to purchase 3 stream sensors to assist with measuring movement, availability and quality of water in the rehabilitation of the Mulloon Community Landscape project.

The Goulburn Regional Conservatorium was successful in receiving a grant of $4,950 to purchase and install 40 theatre style chairs in the newly renovated Paul Paviour Recital Hall. The completed project provides a much needed performance space for local musicians, schools and visiting musical artists.

Palerang Council will utilise a grant for $100,000 towards construction of a new multi-purpose sport and recreational building and skate park/BMX track facility in the town of Braidwood. The facility will include change rooms, toilets, a storage area, canteen, game day sign-on room and large recreation room.

A grant of $3,485 will assist the Windellama Historical Society to enclose an existing building to create a Local History Display Facility, which will enable the Society to securely store and display items relating to the local history of the Windellama area.

Nerriga Progress & Sporting Association has welcomed a grant of $4,312 to assist them to finalise up-grades to the Nerriga Hall supper room through the purchase and installation of vinyl plank flooring.

Uniting Church in Australia, Parkesbourne Women’s Fellowship will utilise a grant of $1,602 to purchase a new ride-on lawn mower to assist with the management of the Parkesbourne Uniting Church grounds.

Braidwood Showground s355 Committee were pleased to be presented with a grant for $8,000 to assist them to purchase a sustainable portable arena and stock yards. The portable arena and yards grant was welcomed by 6 sporting organisations from the Braidwood district, who all made financial contributions towards the project.

A grant of $10,844 will assist the Two Fires Festival group of Braidwood to complete their Dhurga Rock project. The Dhurga Rock monument will be installed in the main park of Braidwood and will form a permanent acknowledgment of the Aboriginal people who previously occupied the lands of the Braidwood area.

Mittagong Community Centre Management Committee received a grant of $2,000 to assist them to purchase new trestle tables and a transport cart for use in the community hall.

Bowral Junior Rugby League Club will utilise a grant of $8,400 to renovate their existing kitchen area and create a much needed lockable storage area for club equipment.

A grant of $4,500 will assist Berry Public School Plant Propagation Volunteer Group to complete stage 2 of their garden refurbishment project. The project includes the provision of a level well drained work area, raised benches for plant trays, an overhead watering system, new shade house and an extension to the existing covered area.

MBK United Soccer Club of Goulburn received a donation of $1,000 to purchase a barbeque and portable gazebo for use with future fundraising events and club functions.

A donation of $1,000 will assist Goulburn Girl Guides to also purchase a barbeque and a portable gazebo and assist with training future Girl Guide leaders.

Wollondilly Netball Association received a donation of $1,000 to enable them to provide their six representative teams with updated first aid kits.

Southern Highlands Sailing Club received a donation of $1,000 to purchase shade sails for the club’s area at Fitzroy Falls. The sailing club also hopes to put funds towards the purchase of life vests and a defibrillator for the club.

A donation of $1,000 to the Braidwood Junior Soccer Club will assist them to purchase much needed playing equipment and team jerseys for club members.

Slice of Life Australia Pty Ltd has welcomed a donation of $1,000 to assist with the purchase of hand tools, hoses, seedlings, plants and garden equipment for their Sustainable Living Program. The program trains and employs people with disabilities, aboriginal women and ‘work for the dole’ participants.

Soroptimist International of Goulburn received a donation of $1,000 to assist the group with their current community project which involves raising awareness of, and donating defibrillator machines to Goulburn’s Community Health Centre and Jennings House. 

A donation of $1,000 has been welcomed by the Goulburn Homing Pigeon Society who will utilise the funds to purchase an automatic timing plate for use by the club’s disabled members.

Braidwood Servicemen’s Club will utilise a donation of $1,000 to run a charity golf day at the Club. The golf clinic and gala day will host Wayne Grade as special guest and will assist in raising much needed funds for the Club.

Make-A-Wish Foundation of Goulburn received a donation of $1,000. The Goulburn Branch of the Foundation will put the donation towards making the wishes and dreams of local children with life threatening illnesses, a reality.

Goulburn Multicultural Centre has welcomed a donation of $1,000 to assist 15 young people from within Goulburn Mulwaree Council’s ‘Be Seen Be Heard – Easy Vibes’ project to travel to Cambodia, where they will volunteer in a newly established ‘New Hope of Children Association School’ in the disadvantage rural town of Siem Reap.

Marulan Region Chamber of Commerce received a donation of $1,000 to assist them to replace the wheels on their mobile stage. The stage is used for community events and the existing wheels had become worn and difficult for volunteers to use.

Captains Flat Public School was pleased to receive a $1,000 donation towards their school improvements project. The school plans to construct a road base ramp for wheel chair access from the lower school level to the car park, as well as upgrading the sandpit with the addition of turf edging and a new cover.

A donation of $1,000 to Lifeline Macarthur will assist them to provide local community members with the opportunity to participate in their training program and become trained volunteers in the local area.

A donation of $1,000 to the Goulburn Agricultural Pastoral and Horticultural Society will assist them to build display stands with wheels.  The new cabinets will be much easier and safer for volunteers to use when setting up the cake displays for the annual show.

Bundanoon Community Garden was pleased to receive a donation of $1,000 to assist them with their propagation of heritage fruit trees project. The project involves grafting cuttings from very old fruit trees onto rootstock in order to preserve the heritage fruits for future generation.

Waratah Tennis Club of Goulburn have received a donation of $1,000 to assist them to upgrade the court’s perimeter fence. The project will involve removing and replacing the existing wire and members of the club look forward to better game control and added security.

A donation of $1,000 to Leisure Link Goulburn will assist with the purchase of sporting equipment to run a one day Disability Sports Day in Yass. Leisure Link Goulburn looks forward to the equipment being used for future events of the same nature.

The Veolia Mulwaree Trust is proud to support the above community organisations and looks forward to the successful completion of their projects.
