The Highlands Trade Skills Centre includes two purpose built educational facilities which will be used by students from across the Highlands area studying construction and primary industries courses.

Chevalier College manager of community liaison & development, Mr Paul McShane said, “the result of the project has seen a very well-equipped vocational education training facility established for Chevalier College and the Southern Highlands. These facilities need to be part of the community and that is why we are working with TAFE Illawarra as well as other schools and professional bodies in the area to see this facility be available to all in the community”.

A memorandum of understanding has been signed subsequently with TAFE Illawarra to explore potential use of the facilities by TAFE for extending the teaching capability in the region.

The centre has already been used by external organisations eg., a “train-the-trainer” course in bricklaying put on the teachers from other schools.”

The Veolia Mulwaree Trust is proud to support Chevalier College with the fit-out of this exciting new facility and looks forward to the ongoing benefits of the Highlands Trade Skills Centre for students, teachers and the wider community for many years to come.
