Southern Highlands Sailing Club have utilised a Veolia Mulwaree Trust grant of $8,490 to upgrade the outboard motor on their Fleet Assistance Vessel.

It is a requirement of Water NSW that the club have an operating Motorised Fleet Assistance Vessel (Rescue Boat) on the water during sailing and boating activities. The club’s previous outboard motor was an old 2 stroke engine which was no longer in good working order and had let the club down on numerous occasions in recent sailing seasons.

The Southern Highlands Sailing Club raised $6,000 towards the project and were pleased when the Veolia Mulwaree Trust agreed to grant the remaining $8,490 required to purchase a new 4 stroke outboard motor. The new motor is reliable, safe, economical to run and environmentally friendly with lower emissions.

Phil Wales, commodore of Southern Highlands Sailing Club said, “everyone is very excited to have a Motorised Fleet Assistance Vessel which is safe and reliable. It is expected that the new motor will last the club for at least twenty years or more and we are very grateful to the Veolia Mulwaree Trust.”

The Veolia Mulwaree Trust is pleased to support the Southern Highlands Sailing Club with the installation of their new outboard motor and wishes them all the best with the safe running of their water activities.
